Dementia Awareness Training

Introduction (half day)
Gain an understanding of what Dementia is, the most common types of Dementia and how it can impact on an individual and carers. The course includes practical sessions, for example, games on how our brains work and discussion. The course is highly interactive and informative.

- Retailers requiring Dementia Awareness Training
- Housing Association and Home Improvement Agency Staff
- Anyone wishing to receive a taste of Dementia Awareness
Learners will each receive an Introduction to Dementia Certificate.
One Day Course
Gain an understanding of what Dementia is, the most common types of Dementia and how it can impact on an individual and carers. The course includes a Disability Equality Session that will provide learners with the ability to identify the difference between the medical and social model, understand the Equality Act, and identify the common barriers faced by disabled people and people with Dementia. The course includes practical sessions, for example, games on how our brains work and discussion. The course is highly interactive and informative.

- Housing Association and Home Improvement Agency Staff
- Anyone wishing to have an Awareness of Dementia and Disability
Learners will each receive an Dementia Awarness Certificate.
Two Day Course
Our two day course provides competence and confidence to enable staff to understand what Dementia is, the different forms of Dementia and how others can have an impact on the individual with Dementia. Learners will be able to identify the signs and symptoms of the most common causes of Dementia and will be able to identify how different individuals may experience living with Dementia. The course includes practical sessions, for example, games to help see how our brains work, discussions/ role play on how to communicate with people with Dementia. An assessment will take place for those seeking Certification. Individuals will develop a portfolio to inform their ongoing work.
